11:50 PM CDT on Monday, May 12, 2008
Stars wingers Jere Lehtinen (leg injury) and Stu Barnes (concussion-like symptoms) both missed Game 3. Lehtinen, who hurt his leg early in Game 2, worked out Monday but wasn't ready for the game.
Barnes missed his sixth consecutive game. He was hit in the head in Game 3 against San Jose by Jonathan Cheechoo and hasn't played since. He has complained of headaches after working out.

Nothing developed between the Red Wings and the Stars' leading scorer, Mike Ribeiro, in Game 3. There were a few hard hits and no fights involving Ribeiro despite a Game 2 incident.
Ribeiro slashed Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood in his chest at the end of Saturday's game in Detroit in retaliation for being hit in the face by the butt end of Osgood's stick in the waning seconds. The NHL fined both players for the incident.

Playoff goals leader Johan Franzen underwent tests Monday in Detroit for concussion-like symptoms. The team had not received an update, senior vice president Jimmy Devellano said after Game 3.
Franzen has missed the last two games after suffering recurring headaches.
With the Red Wings holding a 3-0 series lead, it's unlikely the team would risk playing Franzen in Game 4.

Stars winger Chris Conner had not played an NHL game since Jan. 2 but was inserted into Game 3 against Detroit.
Conner (5-8, 175) had impressive moments earlier in the season but lost his job when Loui Eriksson and Joel Lundqvist established themselves as regulars. He came back into play after Saturday's injury to Jere Lehtinen.

The Stars were again beaten in the face-off circle, winning 43 percent, but Mike Modano won 11 of 21 for a 52 percent success rate after winning only 7 of 24 (29.2 percent) in the first two games.
Modano said the NHL rule that forces the road player to put his stick down first makes a big difference.
"It's a lot different at home," Modano said. "When you can come in late and get a jump on the other guy, it makes it a lot easier."

Detroit goaltender Chris Osgood tied Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk's franchise record for career playoff victories (47).
Osgood's nine-game winning streak is the longest in the playoffs in 15 years, since Patrick Roy won 11 consecutive for Montreal en route to winning the Canadiens' most recent Stanley Cup in 1993.
