Key matchup: Tomas Holmstrom vs. Marty Turco

The eyes of the hockey world will be on the battle in front of net that has produced a couple of controversial calls in the series.

Key stat: 36.6

That's the number of shots on goal Detroit has averaged in the playoffs, tops in the NHL. Dallas has to limit that number if it hopes to prolong the series.

Injuries

Dallas: RW Jere Lehtinen (leg); C Stu Barnes (concussion-like symptoms); D Philippe Boucher (hip strain) and D Mark Fistric (mono) are out.

Detroit: LW Johan Franzen (concussion-like symptoms) is out.

Notable

The Stars are expected to keep their same lines from Game 4, with Joel Lundqvist-Toby Petersen-Loui Eriksson on the checking line and C Mike Modano on Brad Richards' right wing. ... Since losing Franzen (the leading goal-scorer in the playoffs with 12) after Game 1, Detroit has gone 1-for-15 on the power play.
