Wednesday's game highlights
Stars 5, Los Angeles 112:29 AM CDT on Thursday, October 11, 2007
1. Niklas Hagman, Stars (left): Elevation to second line sparks offensive creativity. He scores two goals and has several other chances.
2. Marty Turco, Stars: Looks ready to handle the goaltending load for a while.
3. Mike Ribeiro, Stars: It was his season debut after sitting out with a high ankle sprain, but he looked in midseason form.
1st: The Kings pushed hard early, but Marty Turco made a couple of nice saves, including a couple on an early Kings power play. After Dallas stopped the first part of a 5-on-3, Niklas Hagman picked the pocket of Kings point man Kyle Calder, went the length of the ice and shoveled in a short-handed backhand shot.

2nd: The Stars took control of the game, as they forced 5:26 of power play time and outshot the Kings, 9-3, in the period. Hagman scored again, this time on a nice feed from Brenden Morrow, who set up behind the net. Antti Miettinen scored off a feed from Joel Lundqvist after a Kings turnover, and Mike Ribeiro scored on a power play shot from the doorstep after Jere Lehtinen chipped the puck out of a scrum.

3rd: Turco came up huge as the Kings made a spirited run with 19 shots on goal. Jeff Halpern forced a turnover on the opening faceoff and fed Lundqvist for a breakaway. Lundqvist converted for his second goal of the season. The Kings then took control of the game, and Turco stood up to the test. Calder scored on a rebound to spoil Turco's shutout bid.
