Saturday's game highlights
Chicago 2, Stars 111:57 PM CDT on Saturday, October 13, 2007
Chicago 2, Stars 1 (OT)
1. Robert Lang, Chicago: Scored the goal that sent the game into OT and assisted on the winner.
2. Tobias Stephan, Stars: Swiss goalie played above his head in his first NHL start.
3. Jason Williams, Chicago: Blasted a nice shot to end the game.
First period: It's hard to imagine a worse start for the Stars. They got called for three lazy hooking penalties in the first 3:34 and were outshot, 7-0, in that span. It took them 7:15 to get off their first shot. But Chicago couldn't capitalize. The Stars' Brenden Morrow scored on the power play, knocking in a rebound at 13:48.

Second period: Goalie Tobias Stephan, making his first NHL start, held strong despite the Stars' penalties. The pace slowed as teams traded blows and power-play chances. Stephan had a few tense mom- ents but faced only six shots.

Third period: The Hawks applied strong pressure and took control. The Stars were content to keep this an ugly affair, sticking to defense. But they seemed tired, sitting back as the Hawks kept attacking. Stephan made 19 saves in the period but finally let one past him with 1.5 seconds left with his team two men down.
Stars 1, Chicago 1
Overtime: With Mike Modano and Jeff Halpern in the penalty box, the Blackhawks immediately pressed, and it took only 43 seconds to land the game winner. Jason Williams got it with a slapshot.
