Wednesday's game highlights
Stars 3, San Jose 112:51 AM CST on Thursday, November 8, 2007
1. Mike Modano, Stars: His two-goal game not only tied the Housley record, but broke it. And, by the way, helped the Stars into first place.
2. Marty Turco, Stars: Another impressive first period where he helped the Stars stay in a game they could have trailed. Oh, and another assist.
3. Jere Lehtinen, Stars: Stellar penalty killing and a perfect assist on Modano's record-setting goal.
1st: Mike Modano beat the American-born scoring record in classic Modano style. He scored on a big slap shot from the left wing for his first goal of the game and then scored on a short-handed flip between the pads. The two goals give him four for the season. Marty Turco was amazing in net, but San Jose, which had 18 shots on goal in the period, scored on the power play at the 18:47 mark. Sergei Zubov also missed a penalty shot for the Stars.

2nd: The Sharks brought tons of physical play, but Dallas came up with the only goal of the period. Steve Ott scored on a breakaway after being sprung on a nice pass by Todd Fedoruk. Turco grabbed his second assist in as many games to start the play. Jeremy Roenick might have been the most entertaining player in the period with several big hits.
Stars 3, San Jose 1
3rd: The Stars had to go into lockdown mode and put only two shots on net for a total of 12 for the game. Still, they played the kind of third period that was not going to cost them a two-goal lead.
