1st: Marty Turco gives the Stars a solid backbone and they use that to take a 2-0 advantage. Mike Modano had a strong effort on the power play as he took a shot, retrieved his own rebound, skated around the back of the net and fed Brenden Morrow, who hammered a one-timer from the slot at the 16:27 mark. Mike Ribeiro then slipped in a wicked wrister at the 18:46 mark off a fortunate bounce.

Stars 2, Los Angeles 0

2nd: Dallas continued to work its lead as Turco made some fantastic saves and Modano's line scored twice. Chris Conner scored after picking up a rebound in the slot, and Jeff Halpern scored off a beautiful behind-the-back drop pass from Sergei Zubov. Stephane Robidas had his second assist of the game on the Conner goal.

Stars 4, Los Angeles 0

3rd: The Stars fell apart, allowing five goals before tying the score and sending the game to overtime. The Kings threw 14 shots at Turco and scored in an array of ways. The go-ahead goal came on the power play after Jere Lehtinen was called for interference. Ladislav Nagy tipped a puck that was close to the level of the crossbar, but officials ruled the puck was not over the crossbar. The five goals in 5:07 is a Kings record. Mike Modano then tied the score on a Stars power play with 1:05 remaining in regulation.

OT: Anze Kopitar scored at the 2:26 mark to win the game on a backhander. It was the sixth goal on seven shots for the Kings.
