1. Jussi Jokinen, Stars: Became the 12th player in team history to score four goals.
2. Sergei Zubov, Stars: Defenseman worked magic with four assists.
3. Mike Modano, Stars: Another strong performance, highlighted by two assists.
First period: The Stars looked a step faster than the Avs. Their aggressive forecheck was rewarded with several good scoring chances off turnovers. Jere Lehtinen buzzed Colorado goalie Jose Theodore with two strong shots off feeds from Brenden Morrow and Mike Ribeiro. The Stars opened the scoring at 4:22 when Jussi Jokinen took a pass from Sergei Zubov and whistled a wrist shot past Theodore.

Second period: The Stars came at the Avs in waves, putting the game away with a four-goal onslaught. Jokinen scored at 3:47 and then got the hat trick on the power play at 7:00, sneaking in the back door for Zubov's pass. Jokinen added another at 10:52, becoming the first Star to score four goals since Brett Hull on March 21, 2000.
Stars 5, Avalanche 0
Third period: Ribeiro got his eighth goal at 14:56. Lehtinen fought for control of the puck behind the net and then zipped a pass across the crease to Ribeiro for the one-timer. All that remained was for Stars goalie Mike Smith to post a shutout. But Jaroslav Hlinka spoiled the bid with 3:45 left.
