Three stars

1. Jeff Halpern, Stars: Gritty work. Brought energy, edge and scored a goal. Got under the Flyers' skin.

2. Steve Ott, Stars: Halpern's partner in crime. He also was gritty and edgy and assisted on Halpern's goal.

3. Trevor Daley, Stars: Two assists, plus-2. This was the kind of game Daley needed.

Game highlights

First period: Dallas allowed a goal in the first minute of the game for the second consecutive game. Marty Turco came out of the net trying to stop a goal mouth scramble and then was out of position when Randy Jones flicked a shot on net from beneath the goal line. The puck went under Turco and he deflected it in at the 41 second mark with his glove. The Stars controlled the remainder of the period and scored on a Halpern deflection to tie the score at 15:25.

Second period: The Halpern-Ott-Chris Conner line was flying, and the Stars as a team dominated the period. The Ott line drew two penalties and the Stars scored on each power play. Jussi Jokinen started the period with an even-strength goal when he deflected a high Philippe Boucher shot over Flyers goalie Martin Biron. Antti Miettinen, who returned to the lineup after missing three games with a groin injury, walked into the slot to score on the Stars' power play. A few minutes later, Brenden Morrow picked Mike Knuble's pocket and fed Mike Ribeiro for Ribeiro's 11th goal of the season. Dallas outshot Philadelphia 10-6 in the period.

Third period: The Flyers came back hard, and the Stars sat on the lead a bit, but they did a great job of protecting it. Marty Turco was calm and consistent, and the Stars juggled lines and used Conner a ton as Miettinen sat out the period. Conner played a season-high 15:40. Riley Cote took a major penalty in the final five minutes for Philadelphia and could face a possible suspension.
