1. Sergei Zubov, Stars: A goal and three assists. He also was one of the best defensive players on the ice.

2. Antti Miettinen, Stars: His two assists were things of beauty, and he had several great scoring chances.

3. Mathieu Garon, Edmonton: Came on in relief of starter Dwayne Roloson and earned a point for the Oilers with some outstanding saves.

First period: Both teams played aggressive hockey, and both turned the puck over a ton. Rookie Sam Gagner scored at the 4:26 mark of the first period – the 10th time in the last 11 games the Stars have allowed the first goal. Dallas answered with goals by Mike Ribeiro (13th), Matt Niskanen (second) and Mike Modano (10th), and Dustin Penner popped in his seventh for Edmonton. Sergei Zubov had two assists in the period. The Oilers pulled starting goalie Dwayne Roloson and replaced him with Mathieu Garon.

Stars 3, Oilers 2

Second period: The game settled down, as each team scored only once. The chances, however, remained plentiful. Garon stopped 10 of 11 shots, including prime short-handed chances by Jeff Halpern and Trevor Daley. Edmonton tied it when defenseman Tom Gilbert tallied his fifth goal of the season. Dallas went back ahead on Zubov's fourth goal, his first since Halloween.

Stars 4, Oilers 3

Third period: Dallas was solid but couldn't capitalize on a key power play, and Edmonton tied the score with 9:24 remaining. Penner drove the puck to the net and tried to shove it just inside the post. The rebound came out to Shawn Horcoff, who converted.

Stars 4, Oilers 4

Overtime: Jussi Jokinen drew a power play midway through overtime. Brenden Morrow then won it when he deflected in a Sergei Zubov shot.
