CHICAGO – Midfielder DaMarcus Beasley, sidelined by a knee injury since November, was among 33 players on a preliminary roster announced Thursday for upcoming U.S. exhibition games.

A veteran of two World Cups, Beasley returned to training last month after surgery to repair his right knee, injured while he was playing for Scotland's Glasgow Rangers in a European Champions League match on Nov. 27.

Forwards Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Eddie Johnson, Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore were selected along with goalkeeper Tim Howard. Kenny Cooper, a Jesuit product and FC Dallas' leading scorer, is also on the roster.

Goalkeepers Kasey Keller and Marcus Hahnemann were not picked. Also among the missing is midfielder Bobby Convey, who had a knee injury and played just twice for Reading during the final 3 1/2 months of the English Premier League season.
