FRISCO – FC Dallas' lack of heart in last week's 5-1 loss to Los Angeles led to coach Steve Morrow's dismissal.

The team showed plenty of heart Saturday at Pizza Hut Park.

In Marco Ferruzzi's first game as interim coach, FC Dallas came back from a one-goal deficit in the last eight minutes with two goals from forward Dominic Oduro to beat Real Salt Lake, 2-1.

"If we give a hundred percent out there, we're going to win more games than we lose," general manager Michael Hitchcock said. "[Saturday] was a good example of that."

FC Dallas (3-3-3) broke a four-game winless streak to tie Colorado for second place in the Western Conference.

Oduro, a Ghana native, has all three FC Dallas goals in the last two matches. Both times, he scored after coming off the bench in the second half. He hasn't started a match this season.

"If he keeps working like that, it's going to be hard to keep him off," Ferruzzi said.

Both teams played the second half with 10 men.

Salt Lake defender Ian Joy was ejected in the 38th minute after collecting his second yellow card, and FC Dallas midfielder Bobby Rhine received a red card in stoppage time of the first half after slapping midfielder Javier Morales in the face.

Salt Lake took a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute when Fabian Espindola scored after splitting defenders Aaron Pitchkolan and Drew Moor during a counterattack.

Oduro tied the score in the 83rd minute with a header off a long cross from Moor. Oduro said he practiced the play all week, and he gave credit to Ferruzzi for the way he handled the team.

"He's my inspiration right now," Oduro said. "He's motivating us, and everything goes to him right now."

Oduro struck the winning goal in added time on a long ball from midfielder Andre Rocha. The 22-year-old forward swirled around Salt Lake defender Nat Borchers before taking a hard shot at the right corner.

"It was an emotional game," Ferruzzi said. "A lot of heart and a lot of effort; I couldn't ask for more."

It was the fourth time in the last five matches that FC Dallas beat Salt Lake with a goal in the last 10 minutes. Oduro also scored in stoppage time at Salt Lake on June 14.
