COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – FC Dallas visited its second home Sunday, only to find the locks had been changed.

Against a team it hadn't lost to in the regular season since September 2004, FC Dallas failed to capitalize on Dominic Oduro's momentum-changing goal just before halftime, losing to the Colorado Rapids, 2-1, at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Tom McManus scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute for the Rapids (5-5), who moved atop the Western Conference standings.

FC Dallas (3-4-4), which fell two points behind Colorado, held an 11-game unbeaten streak against the Rapids.

"We needed to get the message loud and clear across the league we're going to be hard to beat," Rapids coach Fernando Clavijo said.

The Rapids took a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on a goal by forward Conor Casey.

Oduro tied the score in the 44th minute, when the Rapids failed to clear a corner kick by FC Dallas. The ball squirted to Oduro, who scored his fourth goal of the season.

"I felt like we were in good position," FC Dallas interim coach Marco Ferruzzi said. "We were going to come into the second half very strong and walk away with a good result."

But the momentum failed to gain speed.

McManus scored on a strong effort in the 72nd minute. He came down the right side, fighting off Duilio Davino in the box. With the angle to the net closing, McManus put a shot between goalkeeper Ray Burse and the right post for the go-ahead score.

"He slipped one through," Ferruzzi said. "It was a very good finish at the end of the play."
