FRISCO – FC Dallas' attacking strategy was fairly two-dimensional before coach Schellas Hyndman took charge last month.

The team relied almost exclusively on Kenny Cooper's one-on-one opportunities against goalkeepers and long services from the midfield to isolated forwards that left them with no other choice than to attempt a shot.
That could be about to change.
"Obviously, if there's more people getting more forward [toward the goal], there's maybe more options to play a pass," said Cooper, a Jesuit graduate and an MLS All-Star this season.
Cooper said the team has been working all week on its attack.
"Hopefully that's something we continue to do, to put pressure on other teams defensively. I think Schellas wants people getting in the attack. We can have not just one option but a couple of options to play passes and have [other] guys to get some goals."
As Hyndman starts to leave his fingerprints on the team after his first month in charge, he hopes players begin to understand what it is their coach demands.
"One of those things is to attack with greater numbers," Hyndman said. "Instead, you have second chances if goalies save a shot or a deflection with players around for a second chance."
Should this week's practice sessions translate into tonight's match against Colorado, Cooper should be finding himself setting up more shots on goal for his teammates rather than taking them every time.
"What we are trying to do is get Kenny not to run away so much," Hyndman said, "but to be more of a player we can play off him; also to get better player involvement in the attack. So now it's not just one player the opposition has to shut down, but they have to shut down an attack force."
