FRISCO – The NHL fined Mike Ribeiro, Chris Osgood and Steve Ott for actions they took in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, but suspended nobody for today's Game 3.
Still, the war of words between the Stars and Red Wings continued.

"I don't know if it was that bad of a slashing to be talked to," Ribeiro said when asked if he was talked to by the league for a match penalty for slashing Osgood, the Detroit goalie.
Match penalties are given for plays in which a referee determines there was intent to injure and are automatically reviewed by the league.
The league decided that the actions balanced out, but it did fine Ribeiro for his slash, Osgood for a butt end of his stick to the face of Ribeiro and Steve Ott for a punch to the face of Detroit's Kris Draper. The league didn't disclose the amount of the fines.
Red Wings forward Darren McCarty said Ribeiro's actions were "gutless."
"It's not part of the game. You have to be in control of your stick at all times," McCarty said. "The thing that happened between Drapes and Ott, that was hockey. But to swing your stick like a baseball bat, not just at anybody but our goalie, that's unacceptable."
Ribeiro said he felt provoked into the slash when Osgood hit him with the butt end of his stick.
"It's not like he accidentally hit me," Ribeiro said. "So if he doesn't do that, I don't think I react. I have no reason to do what I did. ... I think it was more dangerous what he tried to do than what I did."
Lehtinen questionable, Barnes out: Stars winger Jere Lehtinen suffered a leg injury in Game 2 and is listed as "day-to-day" for Game 3.
Lehtinen worked out Sunday, Stars coach Dave Tippett said, but is a game-time decision.
"We'll see if he can skate [Monday]," Tippett said.
Stu Barnes (concussion-like symptoms) will miss his sixth game of the playoffs. Barnes worked out hard Thursday and has been battling headaches since.
Morrows welcome twins: Stars captain Brenden Morrow and his wife Anne-Marie welcomed twins Sunday. Brady and Mallory were born at 1:53 p.m. and 1:54 p.m.
Mother and children were doing fine, the Stars reported.
