The boys playoffs continue tonight when three area teams will play in the area round of their respective classifications.

Guyer (18-10) will face Everman (24-3), the No. 13 team in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 4A poll, at 7 p.m. at Fort Worth Chisholm Trail, with the winner advancing to the Region I quarterfinals.

Guyer is coming off a 70-37 demolition of Saginaw in the bi-district round Tuesday, while Everman is coming off an equally dominant 74-40 win over Aledo.

Guyer should have a size advantage, but the Bulldogs’ quick guard play could give the Wildcats fits.

“They’ll be a very good test for us,” Guyer coach Grant Long said. “We want to contain the basketball against them. But they can shoot as well, so we have to make sure we keep them from driving and get a hand in their face on the shot.”

Argyle (21-7) will face Wilmer-Hutchins for the fourth straight season in the playoffs, including 2011 when Wilmer-Hutchins essentially was Dallas A. Maceo Smith, which closed. Last season, Wilmer-Hutchins beat Argyle 67-34 in the area round. The teams will meet at 6 p.m. at Lewisville for the chance to move on to the Class 3A Region II quarterfinals.

In Class 2A action, No. 5 Ponder (26-7) routed Rio Vista on Tuesday to advance to the area round, where the Lions will meet Van Alstyne at 7 p.m. at Sanger.
