Baseball roundup: Denton downs Denison

Mark Johnson led Denton with a four-inning shutout in a 13-0 win over Denison at the Russell Athletic Diamond Classic.

David Morris had two doubles for Denton, while Dylan Tekell and Charles Boosa each had one.

In other tournament action, the Argyle Eagles improved to 3-0 after defeating Frisco Liberty 8-2.

On the mound, Parker Mushinski only allowed one hit.

The Eagles also defeated Saginaw 10-3 in the tournament, as Seth Jones allowed only five hits and Davis Coughlin had a double.

Farmersville tournament

FARMERSVILLE — Collin Scribner and Cole Bovre each had a double and Cole Cannon had a triple as Aubrey routed Boyd 18-0.

Trevor Gomez picked up the win for the Chaparrals.


James Taylor Tournament

Liberty Christian recovered after losing to McKinney Boyd 12-2 and went on to rout Arlington Grace Prep 14-0.

Against Grace, Connor McMann only allowed one hit to help lead the Warriors. Offensively, Carson Dowdle, Hayden Holley, Daniel Keene, and McMann all had a double, while Luke Chavez had a triple.


Lake Cities Tournament

LAKE CITIES — Riley Wilhoit went 3 for 3 with an RBI and scored three runs to lead the Guyer to a 14-5 win over North Mesquite.

Cole Wessling went 3 for 5 with a double, while Jud Kinzy went two for three and had two runs for the Wildcats (2-1).

Daulton Horton only allowed four hits from the mound.

Guyer fell in its second game of the tournament to Lewisville 7-0.


Guyer 7, Arlington Lamar 1

Jud Kinzy tossed a two-hitter, and Reid Battles homered to help lead the Wildcats late Thursday.

Battles finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Cole Wessling went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Dominic Pickering went 3 for 3 and scored twice for the Wildcats.
