COMMERCE — TWU dropped a 2-0 decision to Texas A&M-Commerce in Lone Star Conference action Thursday.
The Pioneers (4-7-2, 1-3-1 LSC) took the first two shots of the game before A&M-Commerce got off eight straight. The Lady Lions found the back of the net on their eight shot when Savannah Henderson scored her sixth goal in the 18th minute.
A&M-Commerce notched its second goal three minutes later when Jade Bell found the net in the 22nd minute for her second goal of the year.
The Pioneers were outshot 23-6, including 8-4 in shots on goal. A&M-Commerce had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
“Our girls did not show up today,” TWU coach Babak Abouza said. “They were more physical than us, and we did not challenge for 50-50 balls. In the first 10 minutes, we had a couple of good shots on the net and we did not capitalize. The momentum changed after that, and they scored two quick goals.”
Junior goalie Lindsey Sisco played all 90 minutes in the net and made six saves for TWU.
The Pioneers will travel to San Angelo to face Angelo State at 4 p.m. next Friday.
