Golf: UNT finishes 11th in Hawaii

HONOLULU — North Texas freshman Eji Kwon narrowly missed out on her fourth straight top-25 finish but paced the Mean Green on the final day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. Kwon shot a final round of 80 on Wednesday and finished tied for 28th place. She had the lowest three-round score of the tournament for UNT with a 231.

UNT’s Chaslyn Chrismer and Taylor Kilponen each had three-round scores of 234. Chrismer posted the lowest score of the day for North Texas with a 78, while Kilponen had a final round of 80. They tied for 40th place. Laura DeLeonardis shot a final round of 83 and finished tied for 71st, and Brooke Bailey (85) was 79th.

North Texas shot a third-round 321 and finished in 11th place. No. 35 Mississippi State captured the team title, running away from the field by 21 strokes.

The Mean Green is back in action Monday in St. George, Utah, at the BYU Classic at Entrada.
