FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Mean Green tennis team dropped another heartbreaking match to a ranked opponent Friday, losing 4-3 at No. 32 Arkansas.
North Texas (2-3) jumped out early on against the Razorbacks (3-1), taking two of the three doubles matches and the doubles point.
Senior Nadia Lee and Franziska Sprinkmeyer were the first ones on the board for the Mean Green from the No. 3 doubles slot, defeating Kate Lukomskaya and Catherin Parenteau 8-5.
Irina Paraschiv and Kseniya Bardabush followed suit, securing the point for UNT with an 8-6 victory on the second court.
Singles saw Paula Dinuta add to the Mean Green lead quickly with a 6-1, 6-1 dismantling of Parenteau.
But Arkansas captured the next four points and the match as they won on Courts 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Bardabush dropped her first set against the Razorbacks' Emily Carbone, then trailed 5-2 in the second before she came roaring back to tie the score at 5.
But Carbone was just too much in the end, taking the match 6-3, 7-5.
Lee would get UNT's last win of the day from the No. 3 slot in a third-set tie breaker against Lukomskaya, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (6).
UNT faces No. 53 Kansas State at noon today at Arkansas' Billingsley Tennis Center.
