Oklahoma State receiver Josh Stewart added another bullet point to his resume Tuesday when the former Guyer standout was named to the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given annually to college football’s top wide receiver.
Stewart, who helped lead Guyer to the Class 5A Division II state championship game as a senior, enters his junior season as the leading returning wide receiver in the Big 12. He posted 101 receptions for 1,210 yards and earned All-Big 12 honors as a sophomore.
Stewart is joined on the list by teammate Tracy Moore and a former District 5-4A opponent in Eric Ward, who is a senior at Texas Tech and starred for Wichita Falls Rider.
Stewart’s biggest game of 2012 came in a 55-34 win over West Virginia as he tied a season high with 13 receptions for 172 yards and scored three (one rushing) of his eight touchdowns. He finished the regular season by hauling in 23 receptions for 297 yards and two scores in losses to Oklahoma and Baylor before the Cowboys topped Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
