TWU assistant coach Sena Horne resigned Friday to pursue opportunities outside of coaching.
Horne spent two seasons with the Pioneers, primarily working with pitchers. Last season, the TWU pitching staff led the Lone Star Conference in ERA (2.39), wins (51), runs allowed (206) and strikeouts (323). TWU also set single-season team records for innings pitched (422) and strikeouts.
Horne was part of the staff that was named the 2013 NFCA South Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year. TWU swept the LSC regular-season and tournament titles before advancing to the Division II national tournament. The pitching staff cruised through the NCAA regionals and super regionals with a 5-0 record and a 0.20 ERA, allowing just one earned run.
“I have really enjoyed my time at TWU,” Horne said. “I will miss the players and the staff that I have worked with.”
Horne came to TWU after spending three years as the head coach at Northwood. She coached the Lady Knights to three consecutive NAIA national tournaments. Horne was named the 2011 Red River Athletic Conference coach of the year.
