One of the nation’s best defensive units flexed its muscles Wednesday, as North Texas held Prairie View A&M to minus-.034 hitting in a 25-13, 25-12, 25-12 sweep to reach 10 wins faster than any team in program history.

The Mean Green (10-4) entered the match 22nd in the nation in blocks per set, and recorded eight total blocks against the Panthers.

UNT held Prairie View (2-10) to a negative hitting percentage for the second time this season, after the Panthers hit minus-.061 in the season opener.

Libero Shelby Tamura hit double digits in digs for the 12th time this season, leading all players with 12 digs. Karissa Flack led the Mean Green wall with six blocks.

Freshman Carnae Dillard led the UNT offense with 10 kills on .368 hitting.

The win gave head coach Ken Murczek 47 career victories, and he’ll have four opportunities this weekend to become the fastest UNT coach to reach the 50-win plateau. Now in his third year, Murczek has coached 81 matches.
