Swimming and diving: White team wins scrimmage meet

North Texas held its Green & White meet Friday, and the White team came away with a 137-122 victory.

The diving portion of the meet took place first, with Rebecca Taylor posting a winning score of 265.80 for the White team. She was followed by the Green’s Catherine Johnson (240.67) and the White’s Delia Covo (232.87).

Swimming began with the 200-yard medley relay, and the White combo of Natalie Jakopin, Krista Rossum, Michelle Balcaen and Catia Weickgenant took first place. Mona Groteguth, Sarida Muslow, Gaby Colunga and Bianca Bocsa of the Green team finished second by less than half a second.

Groteguth had a winning time of 57.63 in the 100-yard backstroke and also took first place in the 200 backstroke by more than eight seconds with a time of 2:05.12.

Rossum won each individual event in which she competed. She took first in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley.

UNT will participate in its Alumnae Meet today before opening the season at Arkansas-Little Rock on Oct. 5.
