Courtney Windham and Carnae Dillard teamed up for 12 and 11 kills, respectively, but a powerful outing from No. 20 Western Kentucky was too much for the North Texas volleyball team in a 25-16, 25-18, 25-21 loss.
The Hilltoppers (19-3, 5-0 Sun Belt East) hit .407 as a team, which is the highest ever by a North Texas opponent in the Mean Green Volleyball Center. WKU’s Paige Wessel landed 12 kills on .632 hitting — just shy of the facility record of .652.
Two of the Sun Belt’s top blocking units showed their prowess Friday. The Mean Green (17-7, 3-2 Sun Belt West), which entered the match with a league-high 2.67 blocks per set, sent back 7.5 blocks on the evening, including five from Karissa Flack. WKU posted 10 blocks thanks in large part to Noelle Langenkamp, who had seven.
The Mean Green will play host to Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m. Sunday.
