LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — North Texas continued its undefeated run in the Sun Belt Conference on Sunday after rolling past Arkansas-Little Rock 8-2 to set up Thursday’s showdown against league leader Middle Tennessee.

The Mean Green improved to 12-3-2 and 7-0-1 in conference play.

North Texas received goals from seven players, including two by Michelle Young. She leads the team in goals (nine) and points (22).

Jackie Kerestine gave up no goals in 51 minutes in goal and had three saves. Lindsey Hulstein and Young each scored off headers, while Lynda Hercules notched her first career goal from 40 yards out.

Hulstein, Hercules and Amanda Burgardt all recorded their first goals of the year.

“It was important to get both wins on the road this weekend and remain unbeaten in league play,” head coach John Hedlund said. “With two games left to play, we have set ourselves up very nicely on defending our title from last year.”

North Texas plays host to Middle Tennessee at 7 p.m. Thursday, with the league title on the line. A win would give the Mean Green a half-game lead in the conference with one to play, while a win by the Blue Raiders would give them the championship.
