MOBILE, Ala. — Top-seeded North Texas eliminated Florida Atlantic from the Sun Belt soccer tournament with a 1-0 win Wednesday.
An early Carly McDowell header off a Tori Adame assist in the ninth minute gave UNT the edge.
It was a defensive struggle, but the Mean Green controlled midfield and never gave the Owls a good look.
North Texas now faces a semifinal match against Western Kentucky, a team the Mean Green faced a week ago in Bowling Green, Ky. The Hilltoppers handed the Mean Green its sole loss in conference play. The semifinal is set for 4 p.m. Friday.
