North Texas is one step closer to the Sun Belt Conference West Division title after a 25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22 victory Friday over Arkansas State.
The Mean Green will play for the division crown Sunday against Arkansas-Little Rock.
North Texas (22-11, 8-5 Sun Belt) swept the conference series against the Red Wolves (17-12, 7-6).
The Mean Green won the first set behind a .333 attack percentage, recording only five errors. In the next three sets, UNT was aided by seven service aces and 10 total team blocks.
Carnae Dillard led the Mean Green with her fourth double-double of the season (20 kills, 14 digs). She also served up four aces, a personal best. Karissa Flack and Courtney Windham joined Dillard in double figures with 13 kills and 10 kills, respectively. The 13 kills tied a career high for Flack, and her .476 attack percentage was a personal best.
With five block assists on the night, Windham set UNT’s single-season record at 122. With her 18 digs, Shelby Tamura moved into fourth place on the single-season digs list at 547.
