BOWLING GREEN, KY — The North Texas softball team split the conference series with Western Kentucky after the third game was halted because of lightning and rain on Sunday afternoon at the WKU Softball Complex.

The game was stopped in the bottom of the fourth because of lightning. After a four-hour delay, the game was called because of rain and poor field conditions. Because the two teams did not play the required number of innings, the game is officially no contest and no result is recorded. WKU was leading 8-3 when the game was halted.

North Texas stands at 16-13 overall and 4-3 in the Sun Belt, while WKU is at 17-10 and 6-2 in the conference. The teams split their doubleheader on Saturday.
