SAN MARCOS — North Texas wrapped up competition at the Bobcat Invitational on Friday evening, bringing home 15 top-five finishes.
Haley Thompson captured the lone win for the UNT women. Thompson won the high jump with a leap of 1.66 meters.
The Mean Green’s Mona Landry finished third in the long jump with a jump of 5.76 meters. UNT captured two top-five spots in pole vault, with Madison Northcutt (3.50) in fourth and Sarah Vann (3.50) in fifth.
Christina Taylor grabbed a fourth-place finish for UNT in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.62, while Deja McKnight threw 14.02 meters to finish fourth in the shot put.
On the men’s side, UNT’s Austin Yaeger and Derek Richard took victories.
Yaeger won the 1,500 in 3:56.92, followed by Alex Hita in third with a 3:57.84. Bryce McAndrew nabbed second place in the 800 in 1:53.65.
Richard captured his second win of the season in pole vault with an effort of 4.45 meters. Sprinter Kedron Sowells placed fourth in the 100 with a time of 10.80.
Aaron Sirles grabbed two top-five finishes. Sirles threw 16.84 to finish second in the shot put. Sirles threw 52.58 to finish fourth in discus.
