Ashley Kirk pitched a no-hitter and picked up a win in relief to lead North Texas to a doubleheader sweep of Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green won the first game 8-0 in five innings and took the second game 8-7.

The Mean Green (24-22, 11-9 Sun Belt) snapped a two-game losing streak. UNT can pick up its second conference series sweep of the season with a third win over ULM (19-29, 3-16) today.

In the first game, Kirk (12-8) pitched a five-inning no-hitter. She allowed two walks and struck out six batters.

It was her first solo no-hitter. The junior combined with Lauren Poole to no-hit Troy in 2011.

The Mean Green scored four runs in the first inning. Dani Hoff posted the first of her three singles and knocked in the first run. Jackie Miller hit a two-run double to put North Texas ahead 4-0.

Lesley Hirsch went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. She posted a two-run triple in the fifth. Brooke Foster went 3-for-4 and ended the game on the run rule with an RBI single.

With North Texas down 7-6 in the top of the sixth of the second game, Kirk relieved Tori Bice. She struck out the final batter of the inning and became the pitcher of record when UNT took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a single by Taylor Schoblocher.

Kirk put the Warhawks down in order in the seventh to seal the win.

ULM scored four runs in the first off two walks and two errors. The Mean Green made two more errors in the second inning, leading to two more runs for ULM.

North Texas began cutting into the lead with three runs in the second, including RBIs by Paige Kisling and Foster. The Mean Green tied the game in the fifth with back-to-back homers by Schoblocher and Jackie Miller.

After ULM took the lead off a wild pitch, UNT tied the game for a second time in the sixth when Foster scored on a double by Jordan Terry. Schoblocher then posted the game-winning single.

Schoblocher is tied for the team lead with eight homers, and Miller is third with six.
