Track & field: Mean Green’s White wins 400 hurdles at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa — Steven White became the first member of the Mean Green to become a Drake Relays champion since 1970 on Saturday. White recorded a season-best 50.11 in the men’s 400-meter hurdles.

White’s time is the second-best of his career and the fourth-best in Division I this season.

UNT’s Shahaf Bareni grabbed a second-place finish in the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.79 meters. Jo Adams captured fifth in the women’s 800 with a time of 2:07.55.

The women’s 1,600 relay team of Jamila Cartwright, Chastity Stewart, Nadiyah El-Amin and Ashley Harrison qualified for the finals with a time of 3:42.34. Adams replaced Stewart for the finals, and the team placed eighth in 3:42.90.
