Taylor Schoblocher hit a walk-off grand slam to lift North Texas to an 8-7 win over Texas-Arlington on Tuesday at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green (26-22) won the season series 2-1.
UTA (22-25) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and did not trail until Schoblocher’s long ball. Down 6-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, UNT loaded the bases for Schoblocher. The freshman hit a towering home run to left.
Schoblocher leads the team with 10 home runs, setting the record for a UNT freshman. She went 2-for-4 with five RBIs, tying the school record for RBIs in a game.
Lauren Poole (2-4) was the third Mean Green pitcher to see action. The junior pitched two innings and allowed one run and three hits.
Terri Lyles (19-11) took the loss in relief. She pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed five runs and six hits.
UNT scored single runs in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings. Schoblocher had an RBI single in the first. Tori Bice, who pitched four innings, knocked in a run with her first career double in the fourth.
Brooke Foster, Dani Hoff and Jordan Terry hit consecutive singles to load the bases for Schoblocher with one out in the seventh.
North Texas finishes its regular season at 4 p.m. today at Stephen F. Austin.
