AUSTIN -- Jo Adams punched her ticket to the national meet Saturday at the NCAA West preliminaries.

Adams ran a North Texas-record 4:15.99 to advance to Eugene, Ore., in the 1,500-meter run. Adams was the first Texan to cross the finish line.

UNT’s Chastity Stewart crossed the line in 13.81 in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Stewart wraps up the season as a member of the All-Sun Belt Conference first team.

UNT’s women’s 400-meter relay team of Kayla Savoie, Mona Landry, Ashley Henry and Nadiyah El-Amin finished 24th with a time of 45.96.

UNT will send three athletes to the NCAA meet June 5-8: Adams, Shahaf Bareni (high jump) and Steven White (400 hurdles).

It is the first time three Mean Green athletes participating in individual events will go to the national meet since 1983.
