HOUSTON — Against its second Big 12 opponent of the season and playing its third match in two days, North Texas came out flat against Baylor and lost 25-22, 25-19, 25-20 at the Flo Hyman Collegiate Cup on Saturday.
“Losing is never easy, and this one was no different,” UNT coach Andrew Palileo said. “We were out of sync and against a quality opponent at that, but we will regroup and get ready for the start of conference play”
Despite a fast UNT start, the Bears took control midway through the first set and never relinquished the momentum. The Mean Green threatened late in the third set and trailed by one.
UNT was swept for the fourth time and dropped to 7-8.
North Texas returns home after two weeks of road tournaments with a match against Stephen F. Austin at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
