Swimming: UNT’s Rossum shines in 400 IM

ATLANTA — North Texas junior Krista Rossum earned her first NCAA B time standard in the 400 individual medley, concluding Day 3 at the Conference USA meet.

Rossum’s time of 4:16.95 placed her second in C-USA.

The Mean Green had six swimmers qualify for finals and five divers who held the team’s fifth-place position, heading into the final day of competition today.

Mona Groteguth placed fifth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.66, following a sixth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (55.61). Groteguth now holds the top 10 fastest times in the 100 back for the Mean Green.

In the 200 freestyle, sophomore Jana Burkard improved her preliminaries time and position, finishing ninth with a time of 1:50.52.

In diving, senior Rebecca Taylor placed fourth on the 1-meter board with a score of 256.50. Fellow senior Catherine Johnson finished fifth with a score of 250.55.
