RUSTON, La. — North Texas is in prime position to defend its title at the Argent Financial Classic after the first 18 holes of play after shooting a 294 on Monday.

The Mean Green is only one stroke behind leader Louisiana Tech heading into to today’s final round. The cold conditions shortened the tournament from 54 holes to 36 holes.

UNT has three players in the top 10 after the first round led by Juan Munoz, who shot an even-par 72 and is in fourth place, two shots off the lead.

Jason Roets continued his strong play as he is tied for sixth place at 73, while freshman Cory Churchman is tied for ninth place after a 74.
