Track and field: UNT’s Peters places third in high jump

AUSTIN — North Texas’ men’s distance medley relay team captured a top-eight finish Friday at the Texas Relays.

The team of Bryce McAndrew, Connor Bey, Alex Hita and Troy Taylor posted a time of 9:56.58.

The Mean Green men’s 400-meter relay team of Kedron Swolles, Clinton Collins, Caleb Pryor and Collin Heard placed 16th with a time of 40.96. The 1,600 relay team placed 10th and just missed qualifying for the final.

In the high jump, UNT freshman Elisha Peters finished in the top three with a season-best jump of 1.75 meters, tying the highest finish for North Texas at the meet.

The Mean Green started off the Texas Relays on Thursday with a new school record from Charlotte Wilson, whose time of 10:24.53 in the women’s steeplechase was a 10-second improvement from her best performance last season.
