Golf: UNT finishes 10th at C-USA tourney

EDMOND, Okla. — Freshman Nick Rodriguez had a career-best finish to power North Texas on the final day of the Conference USA tournament. Rodriguez finished in a tie for 12th place, while the Mean Green shot a final-round 300 and slipped to 10th place overall.

Rice overtook Tulsa and No. 18 UAB on the final day to capture the championship. The Mean Green finished with a three-round score of 894.

Rodriguez led UNT with a final round of 3-over 73. Fellow freshman Andrew Hudson finished tied for 32nd after firing a final-round 75. Hudson had five birdies, including a stretch of four birdies in five holes.

UNT’s Cory Churchman shot 76 and tied for 42nd place. Juan Munoz (83) and Jason Roets (76) tied for 61st.
