A late goal by Ouachita Baptist handed the TWU Pioneers a 1-0 loss Monday afternoon at TWU Soccer Field.
Taylor Gay’s header off a corner kick in the 84th minute provided the only goal of the game as the Pioneers fell to 0-2 on the season. The ball was cleared off near the goal line by a TWU defender but the linesman awarded the goal to the Tigers.
The Pioneers outshot Ouachita Baptist 23-8, including 9-2 shots on goal.
“We had lot of opportunities to score and someone has to step up,” TWU head coach Fleur Benatar said. “We gave up three silly goals in the two games and they cost us both games. We had a majority of the possessions, but we weren’t aggressive and dangerous enough.
“We played better soccer on Saturday against Dallas Baptist than we did today.”
The Pioneers head on the road next, taking on East Central in Ada, Okla., at 4 p.m. Friday.
