COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — TWU finished fourth in a four-way meet Saturday at Air Force with a score of 191.400.
California-Davis won the meet with a 193.325 while Air Force placed second with a 193.225 and Missouri took third at 193.000.
The Pioneers opened on balance beam and scored a 48.025. TWU was led by sophomore Spencer Jones with a team-best 9.775. Paisley Read scored a 9.725 while senior Bethany Larimer posted a 9.700.
TWU moved to floor exercise in the second rotation and posted a 48.175. Sophomore Kayla Jones led the Pioneers with a 9.750 while Margaret Mayfield scored a 9.675.
On vault, Larimer won and helped TWU record a 48.500 team score. Larimer tied her career high with a 9.875. Amy Winczura posted a 9.700, while Mayfield and Kristin Edwards both scored 9.650.
On bars in the final rotation, the Pioneers counted two falls and scored just 46.700. TWU was led by Larimer and Courtney Cochefski with scores of 9.625.
“We had a few strong performances today, but as a whole we did not improve,” TWU coach Lisa Bowerman said. “We have to get back in the gym and improve our confidence and our consistency. I was very proud of Kristin for again upgrading her vault and Bethany for an incredible landing on vault.”
The Pioneers will return to action in a 7 p.m. dual Saturday at Kitty Magee Arena against Lindenwood.
