Softball: TWU falls in Classic finale

The TWU Pioneers wrapped up play at the St. Mary’s NCAA Division II College Classic in San Antonio on Sunday with a 10-0, five-inning loss to Lubbock Christian.

Lubbock Christian scored nine runs, of which six were unearned, in the fourth inning before adding a run in the fifth to put the game away. Senior Larisa Garcia started in the circle and took the loss.

TWU (2-3) had only four baserunners as Bailey Vrazel and Katie Hines each had a walk and a single.

The Pioneers will leave San Antonio, Texas, with a 2-3 record and make their home debut of the 2013 season next weekend.TWU makes its home debut this week, as it takes on Newman for a three-game series. The two teams will play at 2 and 4 p.m. Friday and again at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pioneer Field.
