LAWTON, Okla. — Ninth-ranked TWU swept a doubleheader at Cameron, 15-7 and 9-2, and broke two home run records Friday. The Pioneers hit nine home runs on the day.
In the opener, the Pioneers (29-7, 8-1 Lone Star) exploded for 18 hits, including a school-record six home runs. Senior Jordan Readicker homered in her first three at bats to set a school record for home runs in a game.
Readicker finished with four RBIs, while Katie Hines hit two long balls and drove in five runs. Kendra Sancet homered, and Bailey Vrazel and Haley Colwell each had two RBIs.
TWU broke the single-game home run record of five set March 3, 2012, against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
In the nightcap, TWU scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and seventh innings and added three in sixth. The Pioneers hit three home runs.
Hines hit her third homer of the day in the fourth, and Readicker went deep in the sixth. Colwell hit her fourth long ball of the season in the seventh and drove in three runs in the game.
Brandie Lander tossed a complete game and picked up her 12th win. She struck out eight.
Readicker finished the day 5-for-7, while Vrazel went 4-for-6 with two triples and five stolen bases.
The series concludes with a game at noon today.
