TWU seniors Brandie Lander and Katie Hines and junior Kendra Sancet have been named to the 2014 Daktronics All-South Central Region team.
Lander received the first team nod for the second straight season. She led the Pioneers’ pitching staff with 24 wins and 161 strikeouts. Lander also led the Lone Star Conference with 203.0 innings pitched and held opponents to a .242 batting average. She tossed 20 complete games with eight shutouts this season. Lander was named First Team All-Conference for the second straight season earlier this month.
Sancet also received the first team all-region honors for the second straight season after earning NFCA honors last season. She led the Lone Star Conference with 21 home runs and was the team leader with a .432 batting average, 65 RBI, .897 slugging percentage and .528 on base percentage. Sancet was also named to the LSC all-conference team.
Hines was named to the second team. She batted .357 this season with a team-best 12 doubles. Hines also hit 11 home runs and drove in 55 runs while scoring 39 runs. In the circle she tossed 127.1 innings and struck out 66 batters. Hines finished her four-year career with a TWU record 52 career home runs and 220 career runs batted in. She earned First Team All-Conference honors for the third straight year this season.
