Denton softball has been down the past several years, but under new coach Maggie Stephenson, the Lady Broncos have rejuvenated the program. A poor start to district play put Denton in a bad spot, but the Lady Broncos roared back with a solid second round of District 5-5A and found themselves in a play-in game with Wichita Falls Rider for the fourth and final playoff spot. Denton began the game on fire with three runs in the first inning, but cooled off the rest of the game as Rider responded and held the Lady Broncos scoreless the final six innings on the way to a 6-3 victory and playoff berth.
