After winning two out of three matches on the first day of the Lewisville tournament, the Denton Lady Broncos swept their Saturday games to finish second overall, improving to 10-6 on the season.
Denton kicked off its day with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Forney. Kendall Wagner netted 14 kills with Jade Akins adding 13 kills. Morgan Reese led the Lady Broncos with 31 assists.
Denton then defeated Duncanville 25-11, 27-25, 25-20. Wagner again had 14 kills along with 30 digs. Akins had 11 kills and Gennifer Holberg had six kills. Alex Dan had 36 digs and Reese added 38 assists.
The Lady Broncos finished up with Royce City, defeating the Lady Bulldogs 25-11, 25-23.
Akins and Wagner had seven kills apiece with Reese notching 20 assists.
“I am very proud of the girls and their hard work today,” Denton head coach Danielle Silva said. “It was a very long day, but they didn’t give up and worked through their tiredness.”
The Denton Calvary Lady Lions earned the top spot in the Graham tournament, defeating Narona 27-25, 25-15 in the finals. Calvary also defeated Windthorst and Archer City.
Sophomore Kelly Crow led Calvary with 17 digs on the day. Junior Anna Hollingshead had 15 digs and senior Peyton Stewart added 13 digs.
Offensively, junior Madeline Mayer had 23 kills with senior Cory Grant adding 20 kills and junior Anna Hollingshead chipping in with 18 kills. Stewart also had 49 assists and nine kills.
