Cross country: Denton competes at Northwest meet

The Denton Broncos cross country team competed in the Ken Garland Northwest High School Invitational on Friday.

In the boys 5K, Denton’s Alex Goff placed 17th with a time of 17:06:63, while Brandon McManus came in 20th with a time of 17:08:28. Keller’s Austen Dalquist won the event with a time of 15:26.42.

Zach Alspach came in 46th with a time of 18:04.33 and Brand Richter took 77th with a time of 18:50.88. Brandon Portele was 95th with a time of 20:10.80.

The Broncos as a team finished ninth with an average team time of 18:16.19.

In junior varsity, Denton’s boys finished fifth with an average team time of 20:22.80. Two individuals placed in the top 20 as Eric Ewing came in 14th with a time of 19:40.00, while Andrew Leech came in 17th with a time of 19:46.00.

Jose Ortiz was 42nd with a time 20:26.00 and Jack Sawko was 50th with a time of 20:40.00. Adrian Tovar was 80th with a time of 21:22.00, Bobby Simpson was 141st with a time of 22:48.00. Dakota Gardiner was 155th with a time of 23:06.02. Jimmy Du was 186th with a time of 23:58.01.

In the girls two-mile, Tyra Alexander finished seventh to lead Denton with a time of 13:59.00, 38 seconds behind winner Brandi Stadler of Sanger, who finished with a time of 13:21.00 Stephanie Duran placed 36th with a time of 15:00, while Taylor Olson came in 96th with a time of 16:38.00.

In the girls 5K run, Jordan Muniz finished 35th with a time of 21:39.98, while Hannah Winn was 66th with a time of 22:49.42. Molly Burke and Shelby Howell placed 72nd and 73rd with times of 23:09.49 and 23:13.46, respectively. Annya McManus came in 92nd with a time of 24:35.40.

The Lady Broncos as a team took 13th with an average team time of 23:05.55.
