Guyer's opponents in the upcoming football season might think they caught a break after star running back Noah Cain left Denton for IMG Academy in Florida a few months back. Sure, the departure took the nation's top-ranked junior-to-be running back out of the Wildcats' backfield, but on Thursday night at Guyer's annual spring game, the Wildcats showed they still have plenty of talent.

CARROLLTON -- In a wild game to end a wild series, Guyer's baseball team seemed to have the odds against it heading into the bottom of the seventh in a tie game against Marcus with the Marauders sending their second, third and fourth batters up to the plate. When Ridge Rogers led off the inning with seven-pitch walk to bring up Dallas Baptist signee Jimmy Glowenke with no outs, it seemed as if the script could almost write itself.

A few years ago, former Guyer offensive lineman Patrick Morris set a new program standard for strength and physicality with the right bit of nastiness from a leader in the trenches. When Guyer head coach John Walsh looks at junior tackle John Lanz, he sees a lot of Morris, who graduated from Guyer in 2013.
