The UIL volleyball playoffs are set to begin next week, and several local teams will be trying to reach the state tournament in their respective classifications.

Guyer (25-12), the No. 2 seed out of District 5-4A, will meet Saginaw Boswell at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Keller Fossil Ridge.

Denton (22-17), which finished a spot behind Guyer despite notching a win over the Lady Wildcats, will meet up with Saginaw at 7 p.m. Tuesday at The Colony.

Argyle (29-10), which went undefeated in District 10-3A to win the title, earned a first-round bye and likely will play its first playoff match in the area round next Thursday against an opponent to be determined.

Krum (28-13) and Gainesville, which Krum defeated Tuesday night, will play at 6 p.m. Saturday at Gainesville in a one-game playoff, with the winner earning District 9-3A’s No. 2 seed in the Class 3A playoffs while the loser will go in as the No. 3 seed.

Pilot Point (29-7) is being rewarded for its undefeated run in District 12-2A with a bye in the bi-district round of the playoffs. The Lady Cats will face Peaster or Grandview in the next round.

If Peaster wins, the two teams most likely would play at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Trophy Club Nelson, according to Pilot Point coach Becky Phillips. Phillips said that if Grandview wins, the two teams most likely will play Saturday at a time and place yet to be determined.

Calvary (28-5) will face Dallas Covenant at 6 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Denton. Calvary swept Dallas Lakehill Prep in the opening round of the TAPPS Class 2A playoffs on Tuesday.
