After rolling through District 5-4A play, Guyer is headed for the postseason.

The Wildcats (10-1) will play host to Saginaw Boswell at 4 p.m. today, weather permitting, in the area semifinal match with the winner set to face the winner of Trophy Club Nelson and Birdville on Friday in the area final. If today’s match is pushed back because of weather, it will be played Wednesday.

Guyer would play host to either Birdville or Nelson in the final as the Wildcats have the highest seed of the four teams in the area bracket.

Guyer head coach Ron Rogers stressed the importance of the improvement of a deep girls team as the key reason his team is in the midst of its best season in program history.

The girls are led by a bevy of underclassmen, including sophomore Catalina Aloman and junior Elizabeth Castillo.

“Our girls, as a whole, have been really impressive,” Rogers said. “This is the hardest-working girls team, as a group, Guyer has ever had.”

The boys team is led by No. 1 singles player Eric Morris, who is 7-0 in district play. He’s followed up by Christian Bailey and Ryan Murray, who are both 6-1 in district.
