Baseball roundup: Rider cages visiting Wildcats, 2-1

WICHITA FALLS — Guyer took a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning Friday, but Wichita Falls Rider scored the game’s final two runs in the frame to drop the Wildcats for their first District 5-4A loss of the season, 2-1.

Connor Herriage pitched six innings in the losing effort, giving up just six hits. Daulton Horton had a double on offense.

Guyer (9-8, 4-1 district) will play at Wichita Falls at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Sanger 14, Gainesville 0

GAINESVILLE — Sanger’s Ross Scott hurled a four-hitter and the Sanger Indians opened District 9-3A play with a 14-0 rout of the Gainesville Leopards.

Ross went the first four innings, scattering four hits while striking out eight and walking just one while Anthony Escobedo struckout the side in the fifth.

TJ Self, Halen Frazier and Escobedo led the Indians at the plate with three hits each. Escobedo and Frazier each had doubles and drove in three while Self finished with two runs batted in.

Decatur 11, Krum 5

KRUM — The Decatur Eagles jumped out to a three-run first inning lead and then held the Krum Bobcats scoreless for the first six innings enroute to a 11-5 District 9-3A victory.

Decatur’s Mason Baur limited Krum to five hits to pick up the pitching victory.

Aubrey 3, Bridgeport 2

AUBREY — The Aubrey Chaparrals pushed across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth and Noah Vaughan pitched a scoreless seventh to give Aubrey a 3-2 victory over the Bridgeport Bulls.

Bridgeport scored two run in the first before Aubrey tied the game with a pair of runs in the second.

The Chaparrals got seven hits, led by Cole Cannon with a double and Blake Stevens drove in one of the Aubrey runs.
